The city's best 360-degree view comes from the top of Auckland's Sky Tower, the most compelling structure on the city skyline. From the viewing platform you can see Waiheke Island, where you can taste some of the world's finest Bordeaux-style wines made outside of Bordeaux.
You'll certainly see Gulf Harbour Country Club golf course if you look straight up the harbour to the left of Rangitoto Island, to the tip of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula.

Better still, take time to look back down the harbour to Auckland from the back of the 11th green. Indeed, the cliff-edge ocean views from the back nine at Gulf Harbour Country Club golf course are worth taking the time to experience. The 11th hole here, with its extraordinary view to the city, kicks off one of the finest collections of golf holes anywhere. The par-3 15th plays directly toward the ocean. The par-4 16th is a dog-leg right and one of the most spectacular golf holes in the world.

Golf Course

The Gulf Harbour Auckland golf course is the only one in New Zealand designed by the esteemed American designer Robert Trent Jones Jr. The course was the site of the 1998 World Cup of Golf, it hosted the 2005 and 2006 NZ Open's and is the home course of Michael Campbell, Winner of the 2005 US Open.

Gulf Harbour is a 6,400 metre, par 72 golf course located 40 minutes north of Auckland City on the Whangaparoa Peninsula. It meanders through native grasses and vegetation and has a natural look and feel from start to finish. Four sets of tees assure playability for every calibre of golfer, from beginners to professinals. Like all great courses, Gulf Harbour tantalises players with a variety of exciting holes. Several feature risk and reward oprtunities, and none are tricked-up or artificial.

Further development will see the creation of a luxury resort comprising conference facilities and an array of premium recreational pursuits including spa, tennis, sailing, deep sea fishing and bush trails. It will also include a High Performance Golf Academy with outstanding practice facilities and involve modificaitons to the current golf course to create a venue of the highest international standing.

Facilities

Gulf Harbour Country Club has a lunch counter for quick snacks and a restaurant and bar for entertaining after the damage is done on the course. Because the course is handy to Auckland, it commonly manages special corporate golf outings, business functions and weddings.
